TANG-GRIP PARTING INSERTS ADD SUMO TEC DURABILITY

ISCAR has added two new SUMO TEC grades to further improve performance of the popular TANG-GRIP line of parting inserts.
The new inserts feature the breakthrough SUMO TEC post-coating treatment, introduced in late ’07, that significantly extends insert life. The treatment smoothes out the insert’s coated surface to eliminate microscopic stress raisers, reduce heat and friction and improve chip flow.
SUMO TEC 808, with a tough submicron substrate beneath a
SUMO TEC TiAlN PVD coating, offers excellent impact and built-up edge resistance. It is recommended for parting heat resistant alloys, austenitic stainless steel, hard alloys and carbon steel.
For heavier parting and grooving involving interrupted cuts,
the SUMO TEC 830 grade offers extra toughness.
It is suitable for all stainless steels and high temperature alloys.
ISCAR’s TANG-GRIP parting inserts feature pressed-in clamping for freer chip flow and tangential insert orientation for greater strength. The unique clamping system (patent pending) eliminates the upper jaw and set screws that can obstruct chip flow. Included in the TANG-GRIP family are square shank tools, blades and inserts in 2-6.35 mm widths, with either J- or C-type chipbreakers.
